Season's Greetings from the ICC President - Hamit Köksel

Hamit Köksel

Dear friends and colleagues,

Serving ICC as the President in 2017 has been an exciting and rewarding experience for my professional life. Over the last year, ICC has continued stable growth with the support of its members. I take this opportunity to thank all of our members, who have offered their hard work to serve ICC. Special thanks should go to the fantastic ICC team at the Headquarters. I would also like to congratulate Dr Charles Brennan as the incoming ICC President Elect. ICC is looking forward to new accomplishments in 2018 and beyond.

ICC will continue to focus on the following priority areas to address future challenges:

  • Developing/validating international standard methods for grains and grain based products is among the primary objectives of ICC. We will speed up the revision of existing ICC standards and develop new methods.

  • ICC will continue to take an active part in designing and coordinating research projects and strengthen its position as a respected leader in food quality, safety and security, as well as technology innovation in coming years.

  • One of the ICC’s main objectives is to enable everyone within the cereal chain to benefit from ICC support, not only emphasizing ICC's leadership but also increasing the number of our members worldwide. We believe that involvement of additional members in the ICC family will help us to meet the global challenges. Efforts shall be made to offer more opportunities to all nations for realization of scientific and technical cooperation, as well as disseminating information through specialised programs.

  • A better connection among the members of ICC will be ensured through the organisation of regular international conferences. I would like to mention some of the upcoming ICC conferences in 2018:
    * 4th Latin America Cereals Conference - Mexico City, 11-14 March, 2018;
    * 7th International Dietary Fibre Conference Rotterdam, 4-6 June 2018;
    * ICC International Conference "Grains for Wellbeing", Taipei, 5-8 November, 2018.
    I hope to see you at one or more of these events.

  • The role of cereals and pulses for feeding the world is more important than ever. By raising awareness, showing the facts courageously, and teaching how to grow/manufacture different foods, ICC family, can contribute to fighting world hunger.

Across the globe, if we work together as the ICC family, we can make a significant difference and help build a better world for all. As we look forward to 2018, I encourage you to light a path for others with your optimism and hope.

Wishing you a year of motivation, exploration, creativity and bright ideas.

Happy Holidays,

ICC President 2017-2018
